*This chat has been edited for clarity Anne McDonald: Okies, let's get started. I'll open in prayer, go over protocol and introduce tonight's guest. Lord, thank You for blessing our lives; for providing for us, and for pouring Your mercy and love onto us. Please be with us tonight as we learn more about writing for You. Let our conversation be a blessing to the participants, guest and those who will read the transcript later. But most of all, let us be a blessing to You. In Jesus' name, Amen. Protocol reminder. Please raise your hand by typing ? for questions, ! for comments and wait to be called on in turn. To keep us from stepping on each others' toes, please type ga when you have finished typing. ga = go ahead. Tonight, I'm thrilled to introduce a man who knows how to keep readers awake throughout the night. His books have caused the industry to take notice. His latest release Deadfall is not for the squeamish. Please welcome Robert Liparulo. Bob, welcome. We're so glad you are here. * Annie leads the applause *Dragon Riding Mouse applauds * Spitfire taps tail on ground as applause *Katriel claps Robert Liparulo: Thank you :) Anne McDonald: Bob, I read that some years ago, you used to write poems and sell them door to door. Could you tell us a bit about that venture? Robert Liparulo: lol... I was 12! I wrote all sorts of poems and sold them for a dime to neighbors. When they stopped paying, I looked for something that would be new and novel, so I started writing the poems on chunks of asphalt I found in the street. That worked for a while, then I moved on to leaves, tree bark, soda cans.... The neighbors eventually told me they had enough poems (and junk) from me and I had to pick up the local paper route to make money. Anne McDonald: very ingenious Robert Liparulo: I think they bought the things I peddled just to get me off the front porch. Anne McDonald: Could you give us a brief on your newest release? Robert Liparulo: It's about four men who head to the Canadian wilderness to get away from it all after a tough year. The run into a group of people who are field-test a weapon and terrorizing a small town with it. The bad guys run a video game company and besides having fun, they’re filming the death and destruction to make a game they’re developing more realistic than anything that’s come before. The campers have to decide whether to run for their lives or help the townies. They do help and the fun begins.
