Title: Blue Moon, (Book Three of the Moonstruck Series) Author: Linda Windsor Publisher: WestBow Press ISBN: 0-7852-6064-1 Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary/Romance Archeologist Jeanne Madison has insider’s information where the wrecked Spanish galleon the Luna Azul—Blue Moon—came to rest after crashing into a coral reef in a storm. Captain Gabe Avery comes highly recommended and approved by Jeanne’s protective brothers. But Jeanne is less than sure that cynical Captain Avery, who more resembles a pirate than a marine biologist just short of earning his PhD, and his rust bucket ship are reliable. Still, as her crew ventures out aboard Gabe’s ship and begins their search, she gains a cool admiration for the Adonis in a wetsuit. Burnt more than once, Gabe isn’t too hopeful this expedition will pan out. The team leader seems more like a teenager than a twenty-something gal with a PhD. Gabe can’t help being intrigued with Jeanne’s upbeat, everybody-deserves-a-chance attitude. Her unquenchable faith in God irritates him at first, but he soon realizes that she’s the real deal. A girl like her comes along once in a blue moon. If only he could be rid of her irritating side kick, Dr. Remy Primston. When it becomes clear that they aren’t the only ones after the gold and silver treasure, the team kicks up a notch and works in a frenzy to be the first to locate the Luna Azul. Will their efforts pay off? Or will others find the treasure first? Will a sweet, innocent treasure hunter plunder a pessimistic pirate-wannabe’s heart and help him to see that God is a God of love and compassion? Author Linda Windsor saved the best for last in Blue Moon, the exciting sequel to Paper Moon and Fiesta Moon. Readers are certain to root for Jeanne, a naïve but determined archeologist/treasure hunter with an undaunted faith in God. Gabe intrigued me from the start. A true bad boy—tatooed with an attitude—he hides his big heart well. I was curious to see how he would be redeemed by the end of the book. Ms. Windsor’s engaging humor and comical one-liners will keep readers turning page after page. Toss in a millionaire antagonist bent on making sure Gabe doesn’t succeed, and you have a riveting suspense in addiction to a delightful romantic comedy. The bantering and one-upmanship between Gabe and stuffy Remy is a hoot! Not to mention Nemo, a black lab who retrieves the knives Gabe uses for target practice. I loved Blue Moon, and it is without a doubt my favorite of the Moonstruck series, though each novel is a winner in my book. Readers will love watching Gabe’s transformation and following along as the crew goes treasure hunting. Blue Moon is a stand alone book, so if you haven’t read the others in the series, you won’t feel lost, although I recommend you read them all. A treasure in it’s own right, don’t miss out on Blue Moon, the final book in Linda Windsor’s Moonstruck series. (13.99, 224 pages) |
