Title: Dangerous Season Author: Lyn Cote Publisher: Love Inspired Suspense ISBN: 978-0-373-44237-9 Genre: Inspirational/Romantic/Suspense
Sheriff Keir Harding is stunned when an arsonist targets the small Wisconsin town at the beginning of tourist season. The crimes seem to have nothing in common, except for a pile of pennies left at each site. Chad is Keir’s prime suspect, but only because Chad has been known to set fires in the past. Keir has hoped the teen has turned a corner and is becoming more responsible, but unfortunately, the town is blaming Chad.
Audra Blair has started her own business, a bakery/coffee shop catering to tourists. She bakes delicious pastries for breakfast and then turns the shop into a pizzeria. When one of the fires leaves her hurt, she is stunned by the way family and friends step into help.
Audra’s young daughter, Evie, has decided that Keir will be the perfect daddy and she is constantly inviting the handsome sheriff to join them. Keir is reluctant to turn the child down, and truthfully, he’s drawn to the beautiful Audra. But the arsonist seems to be getting bolder, and he seems to be targeting Audra. Will she pay the ultimate price for getting involved with Keir?
Dangerous Season is the first book in the Harbor Intrigue series set on the Wisconsin shores of the beautiful Lake Superior. Anything set on the Great Lakes is a winner for me, and this book is no different. I could see the waves crashing on the shores, hear the chatter of the tourists and the cry of the gulls, and feel the tension between Audra and Keir, and the fear of the arsonist that permeates the community. I hoped Keir would find the guilty party, and as a mother of a teen, I hoped that it wouldn’t be Chad.
Readers will not be disappointed by this new series by Lyn Cote and will want to read the other books coming this summer, Dangerous Game and Dangerous Secrets. Lyn Cote is truly a talented author and will grab the readers interest and hold it when they pick up this book. Don’t miss Dangerous Season. Discussion questions are available at the end. $4.99. 247 pages.
