Title: Day of Reckoning Genre: Inspirational/Contemporary Suspense When G.R. Logan closes his small-town textile factory and moves it to Costa Rica, most of his former employees feel cheated and betrayed, especially those with decades of faithful service. For one man, anger isn't enough. He blames G.R. Logan for his father's stress-related death immediately after the closing and for his family's ensuing poverty. Revenge is all that will assuage his anger. Now five years later, on the anniversary of the factory closing, his anger has grown to monstrous proportions. In order to avenge his father's death and make G. R. Logan suffer, he kidnaps Logan's sixteen-year-old daughter, Taylor and her friend, Sherry Kennsington. The only question now is: how long will he let them live? The small community of Baxter is stunned by the girls' disappearance. They are frightened and shocked when cryptic messages began appearing all over town, revealing the connection between the kidnapping and G.R. Logan's decision to close the factory. By now, most of the former employees have moved on with their lives, and they can't imagine how someone could harbor such anger and bitterness for five years. Who in this small town could hate that much? And how did they manage to keep it a secret from the whole town? A race is on to find the girls before it's too late. Will the law enforcement officials succeed, or will there be a final day of reckoning? Day Of Reckoning is the second book in the Baxter Series. I found it even more riveting than the first. Kathy Herman does an expert job of interweaving a suspenseful, dramatic story with a natural faith message. Day of Reckoning is the tale of how one man's decision can have devastating effects on many. It is an insightful story that challenges the reader to lay down past hurts and anger that destroys, and put on a faith that sustains even in the darkest hours. This moving suspense will keep you glued to your chair until the final page. I anxiously look forward to the third installment of the exciting Baxter Series. |
