Title: Season of Blessing Genre: Inspirational/Women/Fiction Just when Sylvia Bryan is finally adjusting to life at their children's mission in Nicaragua, her husband, Harry, sends her back to the U.S. As a doctor, Harry is concerned about her chronic fatigue and insists she gets it checked out. At first, Sylvia is relieved that anemia is the cause of her exhaustion, but when further tests reveal breast cancer, she is stunned. Why would God allow this to happen now?when she and Harry have a successful ministry to orphaned children in Leon? When there are so many people who Sylvia wants to share the gospel with. What possible good could come from such a devastating prognosis? Sylvia's core group of friends and family rally around her and keep her spirits up in the midst of her constant pain, the humility of losing her hair and the sickness following Chemotherapy. She has always been one to believe that God has a purpose for everything. But what purpose could He possible have for the cancer that has invaded her body? Season of Blessing is a thought-provoking, faith challenging book that confronts the difficult questions people enduring a life-threatening illness face. You will be encouraged as Sylvia bravely confronts her fears with never-wavering faith. In spite of all that she's going through, she remains a witness to her friends and family. Beverly LaHaye & Terri Blackstock have done an excellent job showing Sylvia's family and friends dealing with their feelings of anger, hurt, and their struggles to understand why a loving God would allow a life-threatening affliction to fall on such a loving, unselfish woman as Sylvia. Season of Blessing makes a powerful statement that no matter how dark things seem, God is in the midst and He will carry you through. | |
