    Ellie Schroder
About Eloise Schroder, Webmaster of The Christian Fiction Site:
Ellie has loved Christian fiction for many years, after being introduced to it back in 1990. She developed "The Christian Fiction Site" back in 1998 under the former title "Ellie's World of Christian Fiction" after seeing the need for an online resource site for readers to become more familiar with Christian fiction titles on the market. Since then, she has maintained the site in her own spare time, as well as juggling a full-time job with GPH Wholesale, a distributor of Christian literature, and being part of the worship team in her local church. Ellie lives in Palmerston North, New Zealand, with Dion, her husband of more than 10 years.

    Author Profile Interview

    1. Tell us a little about yourself.
I'm a single mom with a seventeen-year-old autistic daughter. Jayme and I live on an old farm with horses, dogs, cats, and a lop-eared rabbit. In addition to writing suspense novels, I'm also on the Board of Advisors for the Colorado and Greater Philadelphia Christian Writer's Conferences and an ordained counsellor.
    2. How did you become a novelist, and did you always want to write?
I've always loved "stories". I'd spend hours as a child devouring books at the local library. Nancy Drew. Misty. The Black Stallion. Fury. I look back now and realize that all my reading material was about mystery and horses. Now I write the mystery and own the horses. It wasn't long before all those wonderful tales had me writing stories and entertaining my classmates in school. As an adult, I ended up in marketing and advertising, but after my husband left, I didn't have the finances to buy books the way I usually did. So, I sat down and wrote a novel to entertain myself. Four novels later, a friend suggested that I try to get them published.
    3. What do you think is significant about Christian fiction?
All writers, Christian or non-Christian, write from their own personal worldview. Christians have the unique ability to not only present their "faith", but to also share their personal experiences in growing in that faith with their readers. Each story reflects in some way, something that we as children of God, have learned in our relationship with the Lord and have become passionate about in one degree or another, reaching out to hopefully make it easier for those coming along behind us to make the journey into the fullness of Christ.
    4. How do you hope your readers react to the stories you write?
My greatest hope is that they find themselves desiring a closer relationship to the Lord as their Father. I want them to come away from my stories understanding just how much He loves them, how unshakeable He is in that love, and how much He desires to have them trust Him in all things.
    5. What responses to your novels have affected you the most and why?
There are two that truly stand out. One was from a young woman that bought seven or more of my novel Abduction and gave them to Christians that visit psychics. The other was from a young girl that wrote to thank me for helping her to grow closer to the Lord.
    6. How has being a novelist impacted your relationship with Christ?
It has certainly increased my prayer time! I can't tell you how many times a day I have to stop and pray for help, guidance and inspiration as I work on a story. But it's also developed a whole new aspect in my relationship with Him. I've seen Him as Saviour, Father, Lord, healer, protector, and teacher, but now I've also seen Him as my boss. And what a great boss I have!
    7. Other than writing great novels, what other goals do you have for your life?
I'd very much like to start a ministry for single mothers, helping them with food, shelter, transportation, and daycare. It breaks my heart to see so many of them struggling to put a decent meal on the table, stressed to find affordable daycare, or forced to raise their children in dangerous neighbourhoods because they can't afford anything better.
    8. What do you like to do in your spare time?
When I take a break from writing, I love to saddle up my quarterhorse and ride through the woods, work in my garden, wander through flea markets, or take my daughter to a baseball game.
    9. What can you tell us about your latest novels?
Intimidation is the third and unfortunately, final instalment of the Shefford-Johnson Case Files. As JJ finally comes to terms with his faith, Donnie struggles with his faith when his wife disappears and while trying to find her, he, JJ and Zoe uncover a terrorist plot that leads straight to the Pentagon.
I'm currently working on the true life story of healing and redemption that made headlines last year when a young mother jumped off a bridge and a police officer risked his own life to grab her and pull her to safety. What the Lord has done in that young woman's life is a truly remarkable story. Leap of Faith is scheduled to be released early next year.
    10. What stories can your fans expect from you in the days ahead?
I have a new series in the works that should thrill my readers. Set on the eastern shore, The Realm is a police thriller centered around a young woman with a truly unique gift that keeps her at the heart of healing in the church... and the target of a determined killer.
