While helping his Pa round up stray cattle, Nate finds a dying puppy. Though Pa is convinced dogs are no good, he reluctantly lets Nate take the dog home.

Before long, Jack the puppy is getting into loads of mischief. Eating Ma’s custard pie, messing up Pa’s forge, and even barging in on the church service and causing trouble. Grandpa convinces Pa not to put the dog down, but only on the condition that Nate trains Jack. But will that be enough?

The real test comes though when Nate finds himself and Jack lost in a blizzard, two days before Christmas. Will he make it home again? And will Pa change his mind about Jack?

Set in an 1880’s Montana cattle ranch, this delightful story of faith in God is wonderful for all ages! I certainly enjoyed it. Make room on your favorite bookshelf for One-Eyed Jack. Great job, Ms. Miller!
