Grateful Rabbit Thanks Neighbors for Their Kindness

Dear Mr. Editor:

I am writing a letter to you to tell you about a kindness done to me a week ago. The more I thought about it, the more I decided I just had to tell someone.

Last week I was feeling rather sad because someone had destroyed my vegetable patch, with particular attention to my carrot patch. The destruction was complete, not a single plant remained in my entire garden.

I was so very upset; I wouldn't be able to feed my three children Bobby Jr., Benny, and Betsy. My husband, Bobby, was injured last year in the carrot factory in a freak accident and lost his tail in the carrot-chopping machine.

As a result of this, my poor Bobby can no longer work, and I have been forced to take up washing. So I had my garden, and felt that with the little extra income, we could manage.

Last week I got up early one morning, intending to do a bit of weeding before starting my laundry chores; when I stepped out my door, I let out such a scream at the sight that greeted me. I was so devastated and promptly sat on my doorstep to have a good cry.

The neighbors came rushing over, got together and worked out a first-rate plan. They each went to their own gardens and dug up various plants from their own plots and brought them for planting in my empty garden.

We carefully watered the plants after re-plating them and I can happily say that I have a garden again, thanks tio neighbors who are no longer acquantances, but dear friends now.

I don't have to rely on just myself anymore and I just had to write this letter and tell you how grateful I am to my remarkable new freinds. I think you should give them all a standing ovation for their wonderful actions last week.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Bunny Bob-Tail Bunny

Editor's Response

Dear Mrs. Bunny Bob-Tail Bunny:

I read your letter today, and was touched by how your caring neighbors came together to replant your garden. It's wonderful. I agree with you about them deserving a standing ovation. Bravo! It just goes to show everyone that God can take any bad thing that happens and turn it into something wonderful!

Territorial Challenge

Dear Editor:

Last fall our 'giant' friends carved the Bushy-tail family a huge see-through dining room. They promptly filled it with an assortment of penut butter snacks and loose acorns. Because of the 'giants' thoughfulness, my wife and our seven families were rescued from the icy winter's lack of food.

Yesterday, I discovered your recent issue of "Sunset Gazette" lining our family dining room. Mrs. R. Cardinal advised my that Tweet Chickadee now claims this area. She also hinted that 'others' would be moving in soon.

I have been unable to contact T. Chickadee. Would you please post a notice in your paper regarding our Bushy-tail situation?

Thanks for your assistance.

Fuzzy regards,
