Dragon Bowling Tournaments Come to a Close

Dragonlair - Yes, its that time of year, folks. The International Dragon Bowling League tournaments are coming to a close this weekend. The pressure is on for the contestants. Representing Animalia this year is Dr. M. Smoulder, Rascal T. Dragonsmith, and Daniel R. Firestorm.

The road to the finals was a rocky one. In the very first game, Dragonsmith beat five-year champion Andrew S. Firebrand by 1 point. Meanwhile, Firestorm almost lost his place in the semi-finals when he stepped over the line and went sliding down the alley, straining his ankle.

In the semi-finals, Smoulder barely escaped disqualification when he accidentally dropped his ball on another player's foot. After examining the incident, judges decided it wa indeed an accident, and not a desparate attempt to get rid of the competition. Firestorm, on the verge of losing to a first-timer, bowled a strike so hard he actually shattered a pin. Dragonsmith, during a game with Smoulder for first place, dropped down to second when he broke the record for the most gutterballs in one game. He lost 8 to 1.

Finally, Smoulder, Dragonsmith, and Firestorm made it to the finals by beating some 1,963 other players in all. Now, they have to face their biggest challenge yet. In the finals, they're going up against 18 of the world's best players, including Jose Thermanomin of the Fire Islands, who is just 12 consecutive strikes short of beating the world's record.
