Warthog Opens New Restaurant in Rabbittown;
Gives Slow-Poke Pizzeria Big Wake-Up Call
Mayor P.M. Owl, Jr. was so impressed with the quality of Rex’s pizzas that he wants to declare Wednesdays to be Pizza Day in Rabbitown.
"I can't think of finer evening out than at Warthog's," Mayor Owl said.Customers also thanked Rex Warthog for giving Slow-poke Pizzeria solid competition.
"I was sick of only having three insect toppings to choose from," said Henrietta Marmot. "Now I can order real toppings and be sure to get a quality pizza.
"Rex Warthog sure knows how to make customers happy," said James Fox. "When I ordered from Slow-Poke, I had to wait two hours for them to arrive with my pizza. By then, it was cold and tasted like cardboard."
Several customers complained that Slow-Poke Pizzeria rarely got their orders right, and that toppings were limited to just a few insects.
When asked about the customer complaints, Slow-Poke Pizzeria owner, Ground Badger, just shrugged. "This business has been owned by my family for 30 years! I make good pizzas with either ants, beetles and grasshoppers. What more could anyone want?"
Although Badger tried to attract more customers, his dining room remained empty on Wednesday.
Rex Warthog's Pizzeria offers dine-in, take-out and delivery services for the Rabbittown area. Rex has plans to makes his pizzeria a national chain.
Rabbittown - Rex Warthog, internationally acclaimed pizza chef, opened a new restaurant in Rabbitown this week and gave Slow-Poke Pizzeria a wake-up call since they're no longer the only pizzeria in town.
Wednesday night a record crowd swarmed Rex Warthog's Pizzeria, located on the corner of Periwinkle Lane and Carroteen Road. Business at Slow-Poke Pizzeria was at a standstill.
Warthog's extensive topping list pleased pizza local connoisseurs. "This pizzeria is great," said D. Badger. "I ordered a triple meatsa with extra cheese and it sure tastes great. I was sick of eating bug pizzas."
Billy L. Weasel told reporters, "I like this place, you can get a plus pizza (pepperoni pizza with quadruple cheese) for only two bucks."

All Animals Need Opportunity
For Higher Education Classes
Dear Editor:
I just finished looking through the community college's class catalog for this Spring and was sorely disappointed. Despite my many letters to the college board, there are still no classes offered for for the higher education of hamsters or tree frogs. In fact, on several of the class descriptions, I found the phrases, "closed to hamsters" or "closed to tree frogs."
Who decided that hamsters and tree frogs have no right to become doctors, dentists, nurses, firefighters or police officers? Isn't it time we accept each other as equals? Every one of us deserves basic respect and the right to further our education and advance in our chosen field of business.
If certain college board members continue to advocate discrimination against potential students, I think it's high time they resigned from their posts.

Editor's Response
Dear Lottie:
I agree. In this day and age, every animal has the right to go to college if they wish, and pursue whatever career they want. No one has the right to deny them their chance to fulfill their dreams.
How would the board members like it if suddenly they were denied the opportunity to serve at the college any longer?
Hmm sounds like a recall election matter to me. What do you think?
Winter Carnival Gives Pleasure
Dear Editor:
I just wanted to say how much my family and I are enjoying the winter carnival here in Watercress Village. Every night we take a walk in Central Park and enjoy the various ice sculpture exhibits and food booths.
This is our first year here in Watercress Village and I must say I'm quite impressed with the family-friendly activities.
Usually, winter gets a bit dreary after the holidays, but this winter carnival changes everything. My children have already entered several winter competitions and the Mrs. and I have taken up ice dancing.
My thanks to all of the wonderful volunteers who make this winter carnival possible. Words cannot express the utter joy they have brought to my life.
Sincerely,
Gus Hare
BREAK-IN! Police nabbed Jackhammer
Ratatat and his wife Pecker for breaking into the summer home of Mrs. Tweet Chickadee.
Although the house was not for sale, and the front door was too small, the Ratatats decided to move in, anyway. The couple took turns widening the front door until they got it the size they wanted. Then they proceeded to toss out the furniture and odds and ends.
Neighbor Cheerie Bluebird contacted the owner, Tweet Chickadee, who was in her winter home at the time. Police arrested the Ratatats, but the damage was done.
“My babies will not be safe in that house, now. The door is too big,” Mrs. Chickadee told Sunset Gazette. “And I have only to the last day of February to find a new home. I just don't know what we are going to do. We just don't have enough money to start over.”
Mayor P.M. Owl, Jr. has asked the community to pull together to find a new home and furnishings for the Chickadee family. Anyone having information should call 1-800-555-NEWS, or E-Mail us at kidmagine@dancingword.net.
