Arthropodia - Over five thousand spiders attended the first meeting of The Young Spiders Associations on Wednesday. The YSA is especially for young spiders ages 4-16.
The Websters (Trappers, ages 4-6; Hunters, ages 7-10; and Predators ages 11-16) offer activities for boy spiderlings including survival skills, campouts, long distance ballooning, wrapping contests, and community projects.
The Spinnerets teach girl spiderlings how to spin webs and create numerous projects with their silk. Spinneret sub-groups include: the Weavers (4-6), Spinners (7-10), and Silk Masters (11-16). Web-spinning contests and a fashion show are just two of the highlights the Spinnerets will enjoy. The girls will also be involved in various projects to help the community.
Interested spiderlings can join YSA at their local center. Currently, there are YSA centers in Arthropodia, Wormville, Rabbittown, Badgerville, and Watercress Village. New centers are under construction in Beaverton, Animalia Village, Butterville, Camban County, Carrot Canyon, Dogtown, Dragon Lair, Otter Cove Village, Pompom Lake, Scale Plateau, and Tweetville.
To find out more about the YSA, visit them at their headquarters in Arthropodia, at 1766 N. Silk Rd, or call 1800-555-6397.
Chipmunk Expresses Her Thanks
Dear Mr. Editor:
I am writing to thank someone who gave us their home this winter. My husband fell ill and could not work, so I took a job. The money I brought in gave us just enough for us to have a sufficient meal and for my husband's medical care, but I could not get enough for rent. We became homeless and lived in an old tree trunk for the fall.
To make matters worse, I lost my job. Someone messed up and blamed it on me. We were fine for the fall because I would go out and find food. But then winter hit. I searched in vain until Christmas Eve. I went out searching for food again, and then I found it. A bread crumb. I picked it up, put it in my cheek, and ran along. I found another, and another, and another. I found fifty crumbs that day.
I had to make several trips, but I managed to get them all. when I picked up the last one, I noticed that I was at the front door of a small house. It had a note on the door saying, "If you need a home, you just found it!" I ran back to my family to tell them the good news! We moved in that very night.
That night, I found a copy of your newspaper on my table. Thanks to it, I found a job. With good food, warmth, and proper medical care, my husband has recovered and is going back to work tomorrow. Thanks! And to whoever gave us this home, thank you so much! You made a world of difference. Well, I better start dinner. Thanks again!
