* Annie leads the applause
Susan May Warren: Thank you Annie! I'm thrilled to be here. I spent many a Saturday afternoon (Russian time) attending your classes on line. And it is so fun to be here teaching what God has been teaching me. I am praying we will all learn something! *g*
Ok, I'm going to start with a question. Why do we write Christian fiction? How does it differ from secular fiction?
AngieP: Because we want to be aware of what we put into our minds. Because we're sick of trash. :-)
Susan May Warren: good answer! Anyone else?
Anne McDonald: To weave the gospel in a manner that others can understand on a day-to-day basis.
Susan May Warren: another good answer
limey: I write Christian fiction so that it will glorify God.
Susan May Warren: another great answer.
Suzi: to plant a seed that may change someone else's life
Susan May Warren: Yes, nice. Ok, here is my bent. I was struck as I was preparing this chat, by 2 Cor 5:18. It talks about we, having been reconciled with Christ, to then go about a ministry of reconciliation. I believe that is what our calling is all about.
I also believe that Christian fiction is what I call " full bodied" stories. True Storytelling, that includes a spiritual plot and includes the spiritual NATURE of a person, and then allows us to glimpse the " drama" going on around us—the Great Plot, which is God at work to draw people to Himself. I think Christian fiction is story telling at its best.
